A water treatment system is a good choice to have, as it solves problems with water that enters your home through your local water supply company. This treatment system removes things from your water, like pesticides, chlorine, sulfurous oxide, and other chemical contamination that would be in the water for your home. Below are four signs that you may notice if you are having problems with your system.
A water treatment system provides your home with soft water. When the water is no longer soft, you will notice things like limescale buildup in your toilet, bathtub and/or shower doors, as well as inside your dishwasher. Limescale is very hard to clean, especially if you do not clean it up quickly. Limescale is dark in color and if you touch it, it feels very hard.
If your water is hard, you will also notice things like dry and itchy skin after you take a shower or bath, or find it hard to make suds from your kitchen sink when you are washing dishes.
If your water treatment system is attached to your main water line, the water filters as it moves to all of the outlets in your home. If the water filtration device becomes blocked or clogged in any way, it will lower the water pressure that comes from the faucets in your kitchen, bathroom, bathtub and showerhead. In a case like this, you should call a plumber to come to your home to check for the blockage or clog.
In some cases, when a water treatment system is malfunctioning, it causes water to have a tint to it. This may be due to your treatment system is no longer to stop the contamination. Your water may have an orange tint if you have a filtration device that removes iron from your water. If the system is completely down, your water will have an orange tint.
Water Taste and Smell
Another sign of water treatment problems is your water tasting and/or smelling bad. If you have had your treatment system for years, you will likely notice this change immediately, because your water has always tasted good with no smells.
If you notice any of the above problems with your water treatment system, you need to have it looked at by a contractor, like the ones at Valley Pump Inc, as soon as you can. If you do not, the problem will become much worse, which will result in higher repair bills.
